Metchosin Community Hall offers affordable and flexible rental spaces for both private and community events. From weddings and family celebrations to workshops, concerts, meetings, and fundraisers, the hall has been bringing people together for generations. Rental Rates & Availability
Here is a full breakdown of weekend rental fees so you can plan your budget before reaching out: (for full details go to bookings)
- Full Day Rental for Private Main Hall: $400.00 Includes tables, chairs, kitchen access, bar area, and free parking – no access to upstairs meeting room, but you have the privacy of no other renters. Quiet time begins at 10:30 PM. Premises must be vacated by 11:30 PM.
- Full Day Rental for Full Facility Rental: $550.00 Includes tables, chairs, kitchen access, bar area, includes use of the upstairs meeting room and free parking. Quiet time begins at 10:30 PM. Premises must be vacated by 11:30 PM.
- Setup Day (Day Before): $125.00 Available after 3:00 PM the day before your event for setup and preparation.
- Next Day Cleanup Extension: $125.00 Extends your rental until 1:00 PM the following day for cleanup and removal of personal belongings.
- Damage & Cleanup Deposit: $300.00 (refundable) Refunded within 30 days following your event, provided the hall is left in good condition.
- Post-Event Cleanup Service: $175.00 The Metchosin Hall Society will perform cleanup services. Renters are still responsible for returning tables and chairs to storage and disposing of all garbage in the designated area.

Monday through Thursday rentals are available for recurring bookings, meetings, workshops, and community programs. Minimum booking is 2 hours. For weekday and recurring rates, use our chat assistant for quick answers or email methallbookings@gmail.com – a volunteer will respond within ~24 hours.
Tables & Chair Rentals

Tables $5 Each
8ft x 30 inch tables with wood tops and metal legs — the same tables you’ll recognize from Metchosin Days and local fairs.

Chairs $0.50 Each
Solid wooden stackable chairs — classic auditorium style. Please note these are not folding chairs.
Note: All Hall rentals include the Hall’s plastic banquet tables and chairs for use during your event. The wooden tables and wooden chairs shown above are separate rental items available for off-site events and community use only, are managed independently from Hall rentals, and are subject to availability. Quantities may be limited depending on Hall bookings and other rentals.
Setup & Teardown Slots
Need extra time to prepare or pack down?
Setup Slot — Day Before: Available after 3:00 PM for $125.00. Access the hall the day before your event for decoration, furniture arrangement, and preparation.
Teardown Slot — Morning After: Extends your access until 1:00 PM the following day for $125.00. Gives you time to remove decorations, collect belongings, and leave the hall in good order.
Both slots can be added when submitting your booking request.
Before You Book
To confirm your booking you will need to provide:
- Signed rental agreement and waiver
- Proof of Commercial General Liability Insurance — minimum $5 million, with Metchosin Hall Society named as additional insured. Purchase online at duuo.ca — Metchosin Community Hall is a registered venue partner.
- Special Event Liquor Permit if alcohol will be served — visit lclb.gov.bc.ca for details.
These documents are sent to you after your booking is approved. Payment is required to secure your date.
Insurance & Licensing Requirements
All renters are required to provide the following before their booking is confirmed:
Commercial General Liability Insurance Minimum $5 million coverage per occurrence, with the Metchosin Hall Society named as an additional insured. This can be purchased online at duuo.ca — Metchosin Community Hall is a registered venue partner so the application is easy. Link here
Liquor Licence (if serving alcohol) A valid Special Event Liquor Permit from the BC Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch is required for any event where alcohol is served. Visit BC Liquor and Cannabis Licensing for details. See our full Alcohol Policy below.
A Signed Rental Agreement must be completed online prior to your event.
A signed waiver acknowledging the rental contract and alcohol policy if serving alcohol, must be completed online prior to your event.
Open Flames Policy
For the safety of all guests and to protect the historic building, open flames are not permitted anywhere inside the Metchosin Community Hall. This includes candles, tea lights, Sterno burners, gel fuel, tiki torches, sparklers, fire pits, or any other open-flame devices. Renters who would like the look of candles for their event are encouraged to use battery-operated LED candles as a safe alternative.
Alcohol Policy
Metchosin Community Hall welcomes licensed events. The following requirements apply to all events where alcohol is served:
- A valid Special Event Liquor Permit is required
- Additional Liability insurance with liquor liability endorsement is required if serving alcohol — minimum $5 million — with Metchosin Hall Society named as additional insured
- Free non-alcoholic beverages must be provided to all guests
- Maximum of 4 alcohol tickets may be purchased at one time
- Maximum of 2 drinks served per person at one time
- Alcohol ticket sales end 30 minutes before bar closing — no last call
- Servers may not consume alcohol or recreational drugs before or during their shift
- Renters must remind guests to arrange safe transportation home
- Vehicles may remain overnight in the parking lot to ensure safe, sober travel home
Violation of the alcohol policy will result in forfeiture of the damage deposit and loss of future booking privileges.

Noise & Quiet Hours
Quiet time begins at 10:30 PM. All exterior doors must remain closed from that time onward and the premises must be vacated by 11:30 PM.
We ask all renters to be mindful of noise levels in consideration of our neighbours and community. If a noise complaint is filed with the Capital Regional District (CRD) during your rental and results in a fine, the cost of that fine is the responsibility of the renter and may be deducted from the damage deposit or invoiced separately.
Cleanup Responsibilities
A cleanup fee is required at the time of booking. The Metchosin Hall Society will perform general cleanup services, however renters are responsible for the following before leaving:
- Wash and return all tables and chairs to storage, stacking chairs according to leg colour
- Remove all waste from tables and wastebaskets in the kitchen and bathrooms, bag it, and place in the outdoor garbage bin
- Remove all personal belongings
- Key must be returned to the closet beside the fridge
Tenant cleanup must be completed immediately following the event. It is the renter’s responsibility to ensure these procedures are followed.
Cancellation Policy
At Metchosin Community Hall, we understand that plans can change. Our goal is to be fair to both our renters and our community by making cancelled dates available to others whenever possible.
Booking Holds
Once your booking request has been approved, your requested date will be temporarily held while you complete the required booking package, insurance requirements (if applicable), and any other requested documentation.
If you decide not to proceed with your booking, or require additional time before making your decision, please notify the Booking Coordinator as soon as possible. Early notice allows us to make the date available to other community members.
If the required booking documents are not completed within the requested timeframe, Metchosin Community Hall reserves the right to release the booking without further notice.
Booking Confirmation
Your booking is considered confirmed once:
- All required booking documentation has been completed.
- Insurance requirements have been satisfied (where applicable).
- Liquor permits have been provided (where applicable).
- Full payment has been received.
Cancellation Before Payment
If you choose not to proceed before payment has been made, there is no cancellation fee.
Please notify us as soon as possible so that the booking date can be released for other renters.
Cancellation After Payment
If you cancel a confirmed booking after payment has been received, please notify us immediately.
Refunds will be considered based on:
- The amount of notice provided.
- Whether Metchosin Community Hall is able to successfully rebook the cancelled date.
- Any administrative costs already incurred.
Our goal is to work fairly with renters whenever possible. Where a cancelled booking can be rebooked, every reasonable effort will be made to provide an appropriate refund of rental fees.
Because each booking is unique, refund decisions are made on a case-by-case basis by the Metchosin Community Hall Society.
Refundable Damage Deposit
The Damage Deposit is separate from the rental fee.
Provided the facility is left in accordance with the Rental Agreement, no damage has occurred, and no additional cleaning or repair charges are required, the Damage Deposit will be refunded following the event.
Any deductions will be explained to the renter.
Changes to Bookings
Requests to change booking dates or times are always welcome and will be accommodated whenever possible, subject to availability.
Changes are not guaranteed and may require approval by the Booking Coordinator.
Cancellation by Metchosin Community Hall
In the unlikely event that Metchosin Community Hall must cancel a booking due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control—including emergencies, facility damage, public safety concerns, or other unforeseen events—all monies paid by the renter will be refunded in full.
Metchosin Community Hall’s liability is limited to the return of amounts paid and does not extend to any additional costs or losses incurred by the renter.

What to Expect When You Book
- Check availability — use our booking calendar or contact us with your preferred date.
- Confirm your booking — we’ll send you the rental agreement, waiver, cleanup instructions, and alcohol policy to review.
- Submit your documents — return your signed rental agreement, signed waiver, and proof of event insurance. If serving alcohol, include your Special Event Liquor Permit.
- Pay your fees — a refundable $300.00 damage deposit plus your rental fees are due to secure your date. Accepted payment: cash, cheque, or e-transfer.
- Pick up your keys — we’ll arrange key pickup before your event.
- Enjoy your event — quiet time begins at 10:30 PM and premises must be vacated by 11:30 PM.
- Complete cleanup — return tables and chairs to storage, remove all garbage, return the key to the closet beside the fridge.
- Get your deposit back — your $300.00 damage deposit is returned within 30 days following your event.

Do you have a smaller meeting room available?
Yes. In addition to the main hall, we have a private upstairs meeting room that comfortably seats around 25 people (fire safety maximum of 49), with access to an outdoor deck. It is ideal for workshops, club meetings, business seminars, and smaller gatherings. Accessible via inside or outside stairs. Contact us to book.
Is the hall wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Metchosin Community Hall has a wheelchair-accessible entrance and free on-site parking directly adjacent to the building. The upstairs meeting room is not.
What documents do I need to provide?

Yes. You are welcome to decorate the space to suit your event. All decorations must be removed at the end of your rental period. Please ensure nothing damages the walls or fixtures. String lights are a popular choice and can be hung from the ceiling structure.
Can I rent tables and chairs for an off-site event?
Yes. Tables are $5.00 each and chairs are $0.50 each. Off-site table and chair rentals are managed separately from hall rentals. Contact us to arrange.
Can I have a DJ or live music at my event?
Yes. The hall is well suited for live music, DJs, and performances. Please note that quiet time begins at 10:30 PM and all exterior doors must remain closed from that point. The premises must be vacated by 11:30 PM.
Can I set up the day before my event?
Yes. Setup access the day before is available after 3:00 PM for an additional $125.00.
Can I have extra time the morning after for cleanup?
